Check Engine Lights and Tuning Requirements

S&B intake kits are engineered to work seamlessly with your vehicle’s factory calibration and emissions system. Under normal operation, you will not receive any Check Engine Lights (CELs) or error codes.

While some owners choose to pair our intakes with aftermarket tuners or calibrations, this is entirely optional. Every S&B intake is designed and tested to deliver measurable performance gains and improved airflow straight out of the box—no tuning required.

⚠️ Installation Tip:
During installation, we recommend disconnecting the vehicle’s battery. This allows the ECU and sensors to recalibrate to the increased airflow from your new intake system.

Skipping this step may occasionally trigger a temporary CEL. If that occurs, simply disconnect and reconnect the battery to reset the system.

All S&B intake kits are tested to meet strict ISO 5011 standards for airflow and efficiency, ensuring compatibility and reliability with both stock and performance-tuned vehicles.
