Mounting a Particle Separator Behind the Windshield
Thank you for your interest in the S&B Particle Separator. It can safely be mounted directly behind a windshield, provided that you maintain at least a 2-inch clearance between the vortex tubes and the windshield surface. This spacing is essential to allow for proper airflow and particle separation efficiency.
The only trade-off when mounting behind the windshield is the reduction of RAM air effect. However, this does not affect overall performance under normal riding conditions. RAM air primarily benefits high-speed airflow, such as during racing or dune applications.
When possible, angle the separator slightly to follow the airflow path from the windshield. Avoid fully enclosing the separator within a cab or under a roof panel, as this can reduce airflow to the vortex tubes.
